History
Since the late 1970’s the Nacogdoches County Historical Foundation, Inc. has strived for
preservation of the rich history of Nacogdoches. The Heritage Festival, started in 1982 as the
primary fundraising vehicle of the Foundation, has brought a diverse range of events over the
years, from chili cook-offs and antique sales,
to the Taste of Nacogdoches and the crowning of
the Heritage Festival Queen.
As a support group for the Festival, the Heritage Heralds have been an integral part of the
Foundation since 1984, with many members serving on both Heritage Herald committees as well as
Festival committees.
The Heritage Festival is successful year after year because of all the
dedicated men and women of Nacogdoches who volunteer their time and talents to the Festival
events, and the public who support the events.
Thank you to each and every one of you.
